Leadership Team

SVP and Chief of Staff Ballentine plays a critical role in the coordination of the universitywide offices, oversees the operations of the President’s Office and the Office of the Secretary, and manages the flow of communications across the university’s cabinet offices. He also leads strategic and presidential initiatives related to enrollment strategy, climate action, and data governance.

SVP Branch provides strategic leadership to promote equity and inclusion in every aspect of the university. She coordinates university-wide efforts around diversity, equity, and inclusion involving faculty, staff, and students, and ensures that the institutional commitment to equity is reflected in the research, educational, and public engagement activities that occur throughout the university.

EVP Calcado is responsible for the stewardship of all of the university’s physical assets, totaling over 29 million square feet, valued in excess of $10 billion across the state of New Jersey. He is responsible for public safety, crisis and emergency management, housing operations, parking, transportation, and facilities operations, design, and construction.

Chancellor Conway has direct responsibility for the administration of Rutgers University–New Brunswick, a comprehensive public research university and member of the AAU and Big Ten with 50,000 undergraduate and graduate students, 4,000 full- and part-time faculty, and 6,600 full- and part-time staff.

Interim SVP Farmer leads the Office of the Vice President and General Counsel, responsible for addressing legal issues arising from the activities of the university and its schools and units—offering advice regarding applicable laws, facilitating transactions, and providing representation to Rutgers clients.

SVP Fernández oversees all facets of University Human Resources, which provides the leadership, service, expertise, policies, and standards necessary to support Rutgers University as an employer of choice.

EVP Gower works with chancellors, unit CFOs, deans, senior administrators, and budget officers throughout Rutgers to implement the university’s responsibility center budget management system, and directs efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial and administrative functions. He also serves as the University Treasurer.

President Hopely leads the Rutgers University Foundation, coordinating the institution’s fundraising for professorships, scholarships, fellowships, capital projects, research, academic and student life programs, athletics, and other priorities, and overseeing alumni relations across the university.

EVP Moghe is the chief academic officer of the university. He coordinates academic programs throughout Rutgers, manages the tenure and promotion process, and oversees offices for enrollment management, academic administration, global affairs, diversity and inclusion, libraries, continuing studies, and distance education.

SVP Newsome Pfeiffer coordinates the university’s relations with government officials, including educating state and federal policymakers about university funding and policy priorities, and oversees the Scarlet Service program. 

SVP Norin directs the Office of Information Technology in developing processes to improve services, standards, policies, and procedures at Rutgers, including initiatives core to central administrative business operations and enterprise-wide computing services.

Interim Director Pisarri oversees intercollegiate athletics at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, including 22 NCAA Division 1 women’s and men’s teams.

Interim Chancellor Robinson is responsible for the daily administration of Rutgers University–Newark, a diverse, urban, public research university with 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students, nearly 600 faculty, and 770 full-time staff.

Chancellor Strom leads Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, the university’s health sciences division, which comprises eight schools in Newark and New Brunswick/Piscataway and their attendant faculty practices, centers, institutes, and clinics; New Jersey's largest behavioral health care network, University Behavioral Health Care; and numerous additional centers, institutes, and clinics.

Chancellor Tillis holds direct responsibility for the daily administration of Rutgers University–Camden, which enrolls more than 7,300 graduate and undergraduate students and employs 313 full-time faculty and more than 1,300 employees.

SVP Zwick is responsible for overseeing and strategic planning for the university’s $960+ million in annual research expenditures, managing a pipeline of services that support Rutgers’ research, scholarship, and creative endeavors, including technology transfer, patents, startups, university-wide core services, and developing public-private partnerships.
